چکیده

The dynamic nature of hydrogen bonds in phenolic polymers, where the hydrogen bond donor/acceptor reorientation can occur in a single site, presents lower barriers for proton transport.

The Effect of Hydrogen Bonding and π–π Stacking to Stabilization of 3D Networks of a New Proton Compound, (a-6-mpyH)(Hpyzd) H2O

A new proton transfer compound, formulated as (Hamp-6-pic)(Hpyzd) ∙H2O (1), has been synthesized from the reaction of pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid (H2pyzd)  and 2-amino-6-methyl pyridine (amp-6-pic), in 1:1 molar ratio. Extensive O−H×××O, N−H×××N and O−H×××O hydrogen bonds involving (Hamp-6-pic)+ cation, (Hpyzd)- anion and co-crystal water molecule٫ static electronic٫ and π…π stacking interac...

Proton diffusion pathways and rates in Y-doped BaZrO3 solid oxide electrolyte from quantum mechanics.

We carried out quantum mechanical calculations (Perdew-Becke-Ernzerhof flavor of density functional theory) on 12.5% Y-doped BaZrO(3) (BYZ) periodic structures to obtain energy barriers for intraoctahedral and interoctahedral proton transfers. We find activation energy (E(a)) values of 0.48 and 0.49 eV for the intraoctahedral proton transfers on O-O edges (2.58 and 2.59 A) of ZrO(6) and YO(6) o...

Proton transfer and the mobilities of the H+ and OH- ions from studies of a dissociating model for water.

Hydrogen (H(+)) and hydroxide (OH(-)) ions in aqueous solution have anomalously large diffusion coefficients, and the mobility of the H(+) ion is nearly twice that of the OH(-) ion. We describe molecular dynamics simulations of a dissociating model for liquid water based on scaling the interatomic potential for water developed by Ojamäe-Shavitt-Singer from ab initio studies at the MP2 level. We...

Dynamic investigation of hydrocarbon proton exchange membrane Fuel Cell

Sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) is categorized in a nonfluorinated aromatic hydrocarbon proton exchange membrane (PEM) group and considered as a suitable substitute for common per-fluorinated membranes, such as Nafion, due to wider operating temperature, less feed gas crossover, and lower cost. Since modeling results in a better understanding of a phenomenon, in this study a dynamic o...

Molecular mechanism of H+ conduction in the single-file water chain of the gramicidin channel.

The conduction of protons in the hydrogen-bonded chain of water molecules (or "proton wire") embedded in the lumen of gramicidin A is studied with molecular dynamics free energy simulations. The process may be described as a "hop-and-turn" or Grotthuss mechanism involving the chemical exchange (hop) of hydrogen nuclei between hydrogen-bonded water molecules arranged in single file in the lumen ...
